Kat von D's most beloved and popular lipstick shade just grew into a powder form!
I did own the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita sometime around 2015. I didn't like how the shade looked on me (a chesnut rose that looked too nude for my skin tone), so I exchanged it at Sephora for Berlin (a bright pink coral). When I found out about Lolita II, I became excited and bought it eventually. The warmer, peachier nude shade suited my skin tone much better.
Then, I found out that Kat von D was releasing Lolita in a powdered eyeshadow/blush form, and I was really excited! Based on the photos, I felt like I would love the shade better as those than on the lips. I got invited to the Sephora VIB Rouge Fall Sale Event, but this wasn't one of the products featured on the official release list. However, they did have it in stock behind the cashiers (along with Too Faced Hangover Setting Spray and ABH blush trios) so I asked for it. Other VIB Rouge members across the country weren't as lucky though: on IG, I've heard people complain that they were either sold out or not available at all. I feel very fortunate to get a hold of it because it's been out of stock at Sephora for a long time, and it's limited-edition.
This eyeshadow/blush duo retails for $19, and is packaged the same exact way as the Metal Crush Eyeshadows. I obviously love burgundy (especially if I chose it as my wedding color), so of course this beauty spoke to me. It's in a matte formula, and has the right amount of pigmentation: it's a bit sheer at first but you can build it up to however much opacity you want. The shade does seem intimidating at first, especially as a blush, but I appreciate how you can work your way up to however much pigmentation suits you best.
As a blush, I will say it's hard to blend, and not very creamy. Whether that matters or not is up to you, but I prefer super soft, buttery textures that are easy to blend with. I use a fluffy brush blush to blend this lightly all over my cheeks. I either wear this by itself or pair it with a highlighter. I don't like pairing it with a bronzer: it looks way too muddy. I will say that this will be one of my go-to fall blushes.
Here's an example of me wearing it as a blush:
As an eyeshadow, it's incredibly versatile. You can wear it on your lid, outer corner, or crease! For this look, I paired it with the Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Trio in "Focal Point", which contain the following shades: Champagne (shimmery champagne beige), Flamingo (shimmery coral pink), and Java (matte chocolate brown). I blended Champgne together in the lid. Using an angled crease brush, I applied Lolita on my outer corner to my crease, and then added Java over it on my outer corner for an extra pop and dimension. I then blended Flamingo over the crease as the transition shade:
Right now, it's out of stock on the Sephora website, but there is always an option to let them notify you via email if it restocks. If you really want this, I highly recommend that you run, not walk and order it!
What do you think of this shade? Would you consider getting it??
