Mission Impossible Rogue Nation 8/10
Its hard to believe it but that last Mission Impossible movie was four years ago. This new one Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was a pretty damned fun action movie that had me wrong many times. This will have some spoilers by the way. You know that scene with the plane in the trailer? That is the very damned beginning of the movie so you know its gonna be crazy from the start. In this Ethan Hunt played by Tom Cruise is on the run from everyone trying to prove that this group called the Syndicate has been causing all of these assassinations and attacks.
While getting information about a new mission Ethan is captured and about to have his shit wrecked by this guy named Bone Doctor which is never a good thing especially when he shows up with a case full of sharp and poundy objects. He ends up being saved by this fucking cool ass woman named Ilsa Faust played by Rebecca Ferguson. Whenever someone complains about movies not having enough bad ass women I think they are watching the wrong films. I see plenty of them. She helps him get away by pretending he escaped.
Meanwhile Hunley played by Alec Baldwin is trying to get Ethan while Brandt played by Jeremy Renner is trying to keep him away. As far as Hunley is concerned Ethan has lost his shit and is the one committing all of these attacks since he is there each time. Ethan is after this guy Solomon Lane that is evil as hell and played by Sean Harris. This guy was such a great bad guy.
Simon Pegg returns as Benji Dunn and is the source of some of the funniest parts because he reacts the way normal people would if put in these dangerous situations. There is one crazy ass car/motorcycle chase scene where he just keeps repeating “I'm okay I'm okay I'm okay!” because really, that's all he can get out as they fly through the air.
This was by far my favorite MI movie. I really liked Ghost Protocol but in this one everything just seemed to go perfectly together. The action was done really good where you could see what was happening. It turns out that the director also wrote it which is usually a bad thing. His name is Christopher McQuarrie and he also did Jack Reacher which is one of those movies people slept on. I really suggest checking this out even if you haven't paid attention to the previous films. Each one is like a new start.
